micado - create reusable multiple choice exams on-line

micado is a web application that lets you create multiple choice exams. Features:

  • Automatic variation of questions for repeated use
  • Exams can be printed for classroom use or put online
  • Question templates may contain any number of graphics
  • Secure server, no information shared with third parties
  • Free

Micado is primarily intended for high school or university instructors, but it is in no way restricted to purely acadamic usage. If you want to give micado a try, sign up, set up the sandbox course, and work through the tutorial. For advanced usage, it is advisable to study the documentation.

Requirements: micado requires Firefox (tested on version 1.5) or Internet Explorer (version 6 or 7). Other browsers or older versions are not supported.

micado also requires that you enable Javascript and cookies. For embedded chemical formula drawing applet, you need to enable Java.

Please note: micado has only recently been released. All documented program features are implemented, but some bugs may have escaped detection. If you encounter a problem, please let me know about it, using the feedback link in the side bar. I will try to fix it as soon as possible.

micado is maintained by Michael Palmer, Dept. of Chemistry, University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
